Fort Heritage presents Spinning & Weaving

We’re excited to offer a variety of retreats near Payne Lake and Waterton Lakes National Park throughout the upcoming year, 2020.

 

February 6-8th   Spinning & Weaving meet-and-greet Retreat

March 12-14th   Spinning & Weaving getaway

June 8-14th (Cancelled in response to COVID pandemic)

September 21-27th   Spinning & Weaving Instructional Retreat, with special guest instructors   $1,200 CAD plus GST

 

All Retreats include use of looms, lodging at beautiful Payne Lake Lodge, and meals (except designated ‘open days’ where you’ll be responsible for your own meals -you can go out or you’re welcome to use our kitchen).

*Please bring your own yarns, especially if you’d like to work with something specific.

*There are 12 spots available per retreat date.

*Shared accomodations; two beds per room (pricing is per bed).

Feb 6-8th Itinerary

6th- Arrival between 4-6pm, meet-and-greet, snacks and hot chocolate by fireplace, entertainment.

7th- Breakfast between 7-9am, enjoy a simple basics intro to spinning & weaving, pick a loom and plan a project, enjoy a day of spinning & weaving; lunch and dinner provided.

8th- Breakfast between 7-9am, finish projects, lunch and dinner provided, wrap up and departure by 6pm.

March 12-14th Itinerary

12th- Arrival between 4-6pm, meet-and-greet, snacks and hot chocolate by fireplace, entertainment.

13th- Breakfast between 7-9am, enjoy a simple basics intro to spinning & weaving, try out a variety of looms or pick a loom and plan a project, enjoy a day of spinning & weaving.

14th- Breakfast between 7-9am, finish projects, lunch and dinner provided, wrap up and departure by 6pm.

Sept 21-27th Itinerary

21st- Arrival around 4pm, welcome and introductions, dinner provided, entertainment and hot chocolate by the fireplace.

22nd- Meals will be your responsibility this day (note that both continental breakfast & deli meat lunch items will be available on hand); 10am beginners class: let’s talk spinning —from raw to spinnable (where-how-what) Wheels, fibre, yarn sizes, technique, pick some fibre, prep it and spin it; warping a loom demonstration, try your hand at warping and weaving. Enjoy spinning in the morning & weaving in the afternoon

23rd-  Breakfast between 7-9am Start and work on your own project(s); Lunch & dinner provided.

24th- Breakfast between 7-9am, Special Guest Instruction, Learning about dye; Lunch provided, open spinning & weaving, dinner provided, continue working on projects.

25th- open day, Meals will be your responsibility this day; feel free to stay and continue spinning & weaving, or take advantage of our beautiful location -only 20min from Waterton Lakes National Park to the west, Remington Carriage Museum in Cardston 15min to the east, and just over an hour to the north isHead-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump (a World Heritage Site)…

26th- Breakfast between 7-9am, Work on projects day lunch provided, open spinning & weaving, dinner provided

27th- light continental breakfast provided, wrap up and departure by 10am.

 A little FYI: 

-meals are provided for 5 of the days; there is a guest fridge for other

food items you may wish to bring

-alcohol is not provided, but you may bring your own

-please let us know if you have food allergies ahead of time

-this is a pretty chill retreat, feel free to participate in the activities

or focus on your own project

-TBD trip to view water buffalo here in Mt. View, if things get lined up

-feel free to bring any other projects -your own knitting/crocheting or any other yarns & fabrics you’d like to work with specifically 🧶
